Vinxi is the bastard brainchild of three bent men who came together for the common cause of extinguishing the status quo. Conceived in 2005, Vinxi grew slowly; step by step, maturing and becoming more potent with each passing day. The founding fathers, Jason Westfall, Brent Cheshire and Ian Hill, coming from separate, but equal, backgrounds in the music, art and action sports worlds respectively, have each contributed a bit of their souls to their offspring, Vinxi.
Vinxi strives to hold nothing sacred while creating imagery that is classic in concept and execution. Blending subversive messages and tone with pop culture and historical or political references, the yield is a vision of individuality, strength and austerity.
The first whiff of contempt from the establishment types came when Vinxi's booth design at a certain international convention was given a resounding NO and would be refused entrance into the trade show if the concept were not altered. With this, Vinxi knew they were on the right path. Understanding that change can only come from within, Vinxi capitulated, in order to infect and infest, and turn the world on it's head.
With feet planted firmly, Vinxi will reach for the sky while forever remaining Bound to the Underground.
"Vinxi is devoted to the destruction of the mundane; Dedicated to the overthrow of conformity; Loyal to the principles of the iconoclast; And committed to the philosophy of subversion. In this way, our content ought never be tempered, our message never diluted our vision never compromised and our wit never dulled.
Vinxi is Bound to the Underground."
Jason Westfall began his career in the music industry with an extremely fortunate set of circumstances. The brother of sublime drummer, Bud Gaugh, Jason started tour management for sublime in 1994. Shortly thereafter, he joined with Jon Phillips in co-managing the group. He tour managed sublime, and occasionally did sound, on the inaugural Warped Tour in 1995 and many tours afterward. While the band was not on tour, and at this point sublime was a relatively unknown group nationally, he started merchandising for the band, in addition to his regular management duties. Cold calling retail stores, faxing catalogs and shipping orders out of the basement of MCA Records, on their dime and behind their backs (they owed it to sublime anyway), he slowly built the group's retail merchandising.
Following the untimely death of lead singer Bradley Nowell in 1996, Jason officially started Martian Church (1997) as the merchandising arm of Skunk Records. That same year he co-founded the sister label Cornerstone RAS putting out acts such as the Ziggens, Slightly Stoopid, Filibuster, limited edition Long Beach Dub Allstars, Frank Jordan, and more. Though he resigned to focus on Martian Church in 1999, he remains close with his former partners, and they are arm in arm working current artists such as The Shape Shifters, Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, Bargain Music, AWOL One and more.
During those same years and years afterward, Jason's passion for music and specifically being on the road, doing sound and tour managing, was never far from his heart. He went on to tour manage other acts such as Eyes Adrift (Bud-sublime, Curt Kirkwood-Meat Puppets, Krist Noveselic-Nirvana) and the follow up project, Volcano (Bud, Curt, Jon Ziggen, Miguel), Chicago legends The Wesley Willis Fiasco, The Cherry Poppin' Daddies and others.
Deciding that touring, although fun and fulfilling, kept him away from his company for too long he jumped off the road. The focus on Martian Church has paid dividends in that the company has expanded and now carries goods from not only sublime, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Slightly Stoopid, Pepper and the other Cornerstone RAS bands, but the Kottonmouth Kings and ultimate punk legends, The Ramones.
This newest venture, Vinxi, is the most exciting for him yet. His passion for the brand will show in his dedication, and devotion to, not only his partners and the company's principles, but in its success.

Brent Cheshire hails form the mean streets of Westminster, California. He has always been interested in art and design from an early age and found out that he could use art to manipulate the public consciousness when at age 11, he was asked by his classmate, Danny to draw a campaign poster for the 5th grade class election. His unpopular friend won the election by a landslide because he simply had the best poster which featured an image of a heroic Han Solo wielding a blaster telling the kids to Vote for Danny. It was his first indication that art has the power to manipulate the public if used properly.
Brent studied filmmaking and graphic design in college, and was always thinking of ways to make a decent living at making little pictures. At first, he tried his hand at filmmaking and made a half hour short entitled, Beano the Epileptic Clown. When he entered this film into the festival at his college, he was rejected because the film was too strange. Classmates that judged the films for festival entry later told him that it was the best film in the competition but it couldn't be shown because the head of the department was offended by the offbeat humor.
Frustrated with the experience he gave up this dream of being an independent filmmaker, and he focused on his first love, design. He soon found out that the only group that would embrace and accept his graphic ideas were the local punks and skateboarders who grew up with art on the bottom of their skateboards and the posted flyers for local punk shows. To his dismay, the appreciating fans that liked his work also had no money to spend. So the only option left was to find a day job that paid the rent.
The passion to create art for people that wanted it, never really left his mind. Even if it was for people considered on the fringes of society... he had to make art his primary objective in life. Created out of a love of underground culture he has helped give birth to Vinxi Clothing with the only people that would accept him: Punkers and Skateboarders.
The partnership with Jason Westfall and Ian Hill blended perfectly together and continues to be an amalgam of three different backgrounds with a similar objective. " We want to make clothes for people that want something different out of life. The unpopular kid that sat in back of the classroom, was always the smartest kid and had the most fascinating personality. That's the kid I want wearing Vinxi." Brent said, " That strange girl that nobody talked to at school that made her own clothes...those are our people. If that same disenfranchised kid ends up on the evening news in handcuffs because they broke the law...it's o.k., as long as they were wearing one of our shirts while being hauled off by the cops." "In the end, if the meek truly inherit the earth, they'll all be wearing Vinxi." (Brent also enjoys long walks on the beach and frolicking with his 4 minature poodles in the warm waters of the Pacific.)
Ian Hill was raised in Oxnard, CA and was a sponsored surfer at age 10, and an avid skater his whole life (Pools and Parks). A long time member of the Nardcore Scene, Ian toured with Agression as well as Ill Repute and Dr. Know, as both a roadie and as Tour Manager. Ian has worked in the action sports industry for many years, as a team manager for skateboard companys such as Grind King, Kreper and Dogtown, and currently as the Talent Coordinator for Fuel TV. Ian also worked at Vons for a period of time, but if it's any consolation, he has also appeared in several feature films. A self-proclaimed defender of the right to speak your mind and to not be Censored, Ian is loved by many hated by, well just as many! LOL just kidding on that one... Ian's view: "Live your dreams people wake up from their dreams I have yet to wake up from my life!!! Don't compromise what you want - ever."
